US Dance Events ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our websites at us.dance, nh.dance, and related state pages (the "Site").

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address
• Password (encrypted and securely stored)
• Account creation date

Content You Submit

When you use our services, we may collect:

• Classified ads you post
• Blog posts and comments you submit
• Messages you send through our contact forms
• Event information you add to the calendar

Automatically Collected Information

We use Cloudflare Analytics to collect:

• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and time spent on pages
• Referral sources
• General location data (city/region level, not precise location)

We also use Google Analytics to collect similar usage information, including:

• Pages visited, time on page, and navigation paths through the Site
• Device, browser, and operating system information
• Approximate location derived from IP address (city/region level — Google Analytics processes but does not store your full IP address)
• Referral source and search terms that led you to the Site

Unlike Cloudflare Analytics, Google Analytics uses cookies (see "Cookies and Local Storage" below) to distinguish visitors and sessions. We use Google Analytics for general Site usage statistics only, not for advertising, remarketing, or building advertising profiles.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Site's functionality
• Enable user authentication and account management
• Display your submitted content (ads, blog posts, etc.)
• Communicate with you about your account or content
• Moderate content to ensure community standards
• Improve the Site based on usage patterns
• Prevent fraud and abuse

How We Store Your Information

Your account information and submitted content are securely stored using Google Apps Script and Google Sheets with industry-standard encryption. We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

Password Security: Your passwords are hashed using secure algorithms and are never stored in plain text. We cannot retrieve your password - only you can reset it if forgotten.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Public Content: Information you choose to make public (such as approved blog posts, ads, or comments) is visible to all Site visitors
• Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of users
• Service Providers: With trusted service providers who assist in operating our Site (Google for hosting and analytics, Cloudflare for analytics), under strict confidentiality agreements

We use the following third-party services:

Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to maintain your login session. This information is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except during authentication. You can clear this data at any time by logging out or clearing your browser's local storage.

Google Analytics also sets its own cookies (such as _ga) in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions across page views. These cookies are set and controlled by Google, not by us, and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can block or delete these cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Children's Privacy

Except for the under-18 pages described below, our Site is not intended for children under 18. Creating an account, logging in, submitting events, posting comments, and posting classified ads are all intended for users 18 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 through any of those features. If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.

Under-18 Pages (e.g. under18.html)

Some state sites include an under-18 page — currently us.dance/nh/under18.html for New Hampshire, with more states possibly added later — built specifically for dancers under 18 and their parents or guardians to browse youth dance classes, events, and studios. Every such page is deliberately simple, and collects no personally identifiable information:

• No account or login exists on the page, and none is required to use it
• No forms, comment boxes, or contact fields — there's nowhere on the page to enter a name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information
• No cookies or other persistent identifiers are used to recognize individual visitors
• Our organization's contact information is intentionally left off the page

We collect only anonymous, aggregate usage statistics for this page: the total number of visits, and the total number of times visitors click through to a listed studio's website. These are simple counts only — not tied to your IP address, device, browser, or any other identifier — and cannot be used to determine who visited or what any individual visitor did. We use this solely to see which studio listings are useful to visitors, never for advertising or profiling.

Note: as of this Last Updated date, this visit/click-through counting is not active yet — this section describes what we intend to add. When it goes live, it will use the same privacy-respecting, cookieless approach as our sitewide Cloudflare Analytics (see "Automatically Collected Information" above), and we'll update the date above accordingly.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
